At Blue Skies Hospice we really appreciate our volunteer staff. They provide support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable diseases so that they may live life as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice affirms life, which makes the hospice volunteer job very important.

Recently, Julie Hancin, a Blue Skies volunteer became an recipient of the City of Hammond Mayor’s Commission on Disabilities Award.

Hancin became a volunteer for Blue Skies Hospice in October of 2007 and has volunteered close to 500 hours. She often goes out of her way to show compassion and care for patients and asks nothing in return. It is an absolute honor for the Mayor of Hammond to see her dedication to hospice care and we couldn’t be more proud!
